Traditional Chocolate Chip Cookies

Serves 10-12

Ingredients

  • 225g butter, softened
  • 165g sugar
  • 150g brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 255g plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 175g milk chocolate chips
  • 75g mixed nuts, chopped (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Lightly grease 2 baking sheets.
  2. Cream the butter and sugars together until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Sift in the flour and baking soda and beat into the mixture. Add the chocolate chips and nuts and stir until well combined.
  3. Drop large, rounded tbsp of the dough on to the baking sheets, 5 or 6 per sheet, well-spaced as the cookies will spread.
  4. Bake until golden, 15-18 mins.
